Designer Cyril Verdavinne Makes his NYFW Debut

When New York Fashion Week (NYFW) came to a close last month, one remarkable designer’s work stood out amongst the pile of garments like a shimmering diamond in the rough: Cyril Verdavainne.

As the sun began to set, the Casa Cipriani’s terrace overlooking a bustling New York City sidewalk was the perfect backdrop to Verdavinne’s chic runway show. Models in sweeping gowns and cocktail dresses sashayed down a red carpet in bold, block colors of royalty blue, magenta, deep reds and angelic white.

“I wanted to show something glamorous and generous in proportion but with clean, crisp lines. The use of colors was a must for me with the Neon Yellow, the Chartreuse, the Shameless Fuchsia Pink… it’s all about bringing fun to our clients’ wardrobes,” Verdavainne said. “Speaking of our clients, it was important for us to feature our gorgeous curvy ladies because they are here, they are very real, and they very much appreciate brands like VERDAVAINNE. I have been at this gig for a little while now, and I haven’t met a woman who is a straight size.”

Each carefully crafted dress embodied a sort of New York City elegance worthy of Audrey Hepburn’s Breakfast at Tiffany’s classic style. Perhaps it was the intimate setting, overlooking Wall Street, but the entire show was a pure representation of classic beauty. Like a resurgence to a time of poetic revelry, Verdavinne truly made a show stopping debut. Verdavinne’s designs were so sharp and symmetrical, akin to the surrounding city architecture around the show, the evening wear commanded respect and attention, underscoring the artist’s mission to deliver sophistication and beauty that celebrates womanhood.

“While I design a line every season, the brand sets itself apart and identifies as ‘custom’ and made to measure. The client gets to create, and for me, it is an opportunity to learn more about women and about the clothes they truly want to wear,” he added.
