On June 23rd and 24th, Abe Stark Primary School (PS) 346 hosted multiple graduations at their outdoor playground beneath a large gazebo adorned with congratulatory decorations. Throughout the morning and afternoon, families filed into the assembly area bringing balloons, small gifts, and their cameras in preparation for the festivities.
The fifth-grade graduation ceremony kicked-off two days of celebrations when students donned blue robes, marking not only the end of another school year, but the first in-person ceremony since the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I want to take this opportunity to commend you for the hard work and dedication. Words cannot express how proud I am of you all. You accomplished a great deal during a very tumultuous school year. This past year was challenging at times. But it also provided you with a unique opportunity to learn more about yourselves to grow personally and academically. You all have unique gifts and talents that were recognized, ready to nurture. Our primary goal was to help you grow into intelligent, compassionate and responsible citizens. We believe in preparing you for the world beyond the playground or beyond the classroom,” Principal Jabari Edwards said.
Numerous members of the fifth-grade class were presented with awards from Dr. Vafiadi and Ms. Palmer, and included heart-felt speeches from Valedictorian, Love Solomon and Salutatorian, Aiden Guzman.
“Live your lives in a way that will reflect credit upon yourself, your parents and your community. I echo the wishes of our entire faculty when I say to you, good luck and the sky is truly the limit,” Edwards said.
On June 24th, children in 3-K and Pre-Kindergarten wore blue t-shirts in honor of their special day, while the kindergarteners donned red shirts with a film clapboard. They performed a plethora of musical renditions showcasing all of the lessons learned throughout the school year.
