On October 8th, staff, volunteers and members from the JASA Starrett Senior Center participated in the East Brooklyn 5K Run/Walk, where they hoped to spread awareness on healthy living and put a spotlight on Breast Cancer.

The event began at the Spring Creek Park near Gateway Mall—located at 395 Gateway Drive—where participants of all ages, including families, proceeded to walk/run around the community. The event was followed by games, fitness activities, as well as medals for all those who took part in the event.

A large group of people gathered outdoors on a sunny day.

The Annual East Brooklyn 5K Run/Walk was hosted by the East New York Restoration. The walk/run route proceeded from Gateway Drive to Flatlands Avenue, along Vermont Street, across Stanley Avenue, and then back down Elton Street toward Vandalia Avenue, culminating back at Gateway Mall.
