K-pop icons VAV rang in the New Year by kicking-off their ‘Subcönscióus’ US tour in Jersey City on January 5th.

Hundreds of fans braced for the icy cold weather ensuring their space was as close to the stage as possible for the first stop on VAV—an acronym for the band’s name Very Awesome Voice—tour at White Eagle Hall.

Denise Royal, 42, is an enormous VAV fan, so she jumped at the opportunity to purchase VVIP+ tickets from Studio Pav for the South Korean band’s return to the US. Traveling all the way from Virginia, Royal says VAV’s members have such kind and fun personalities that they are hard not to love.

“I love VAV, and I was so excited to finally come and see them and meet them and I just wanted to come to the first show,” Royal said. “They are just so amazing, and they seem like  really fun guys. It’s my first-time meeting them, but they give their all to their fans and I absolutely adore that.”

VAV fans, affectionally known as VAMPZ, shared that their fondness for the group is based on their positive energy, caring demeanors and willingness to go above and beyond for them. Like the lyrics in their song, “She’s Mine,” VAV showcases a deep affection for their VAMPZ, so much so that they tried to participate in as much interactions as possible.

At every concert VAV hosts a brief interactive segment where they grant wishes to about six fans in the crowd. This includes taking selfies, giving them hugs, and even serenading them.

Prior to the start of the show, those who purchased VVIP+ were given the opportunity to join in a fan chat, where they could sit down with the six members: St. Van, Ace, Ayno, Jacob, Lou and Ziu and talk to them for a period of time while their albums were signed.  VVIP and VIP also were afforded an opportunity to pose for a group photo and briefly spoke to the K-pop superstars.

Theresa Saekoo, 37 shared that January 5th was the first time she ever saw VAV live in concert and was simply enamored by their loving personalities during the fan chat.

“I’ve seen a lot of videos online and I think that their personalities are so great. They seem so down to earth. There’s just so nice and again, they’re so talented. They’re so passionate and they deserve so much success. I’m so proud of them and so excited for them,” Saekoo said.

VAV’s vibrant concert was full of laughter as the members joked with fans and even showcased the amount of muscle St. Van and Jacob put on as they discussed the variety of songs they planned on performing. The setlist included hits such as “Designer,” “She’s Mine,” “Senorita,” and cover songs including Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers” and Bruno Mars’ “Marry You.”

“I am so happy to see all of our VAMPZ again,” Ace said between performance segments. “Thank you, guys, so much for coming out to see us.”
