Get Ready to Rock the Vote on November 5th!
The Department of Public Safety’s (DPS) Young Adult Program engaged their members with a Voting Registration event early this month to educate them on their civic duty and background information polls.
For some, politics can often seem like a boring topic; however, Young Adults Program Co-Founder Eileen Level put a new spin on the show “Whose Line is it Anyway” by asking members who said it: Trump or Kamala.
Throughout the year, Level dedicated herself to education and empowering members through programming. So, to get the young adults more engaged, she connected with her colleagues at The Opportunity Hub (Megan Snell, Johnny Rosario, and Nanda Prabhakar) to do something that would leave an impact on them. Together, the team informed those ages 18-24 about the current events affecting equity, justice, the economy, and more with several games while also providing accessible resources and reading materials.
“At the end of the high energy game, staff from The Opportunity Hub helped to encourage members to vote by sharing the importance and impact of voting…out of all the people that shared that they were not yet registered, all had registered by the end of the night.
There was also an added incentive to register and apply to work at the voting polls! For those not in attendance that night, they learned about the event, signed up at home and applied to work the polls,” Level told the Spring Creek Sun.
