The Opportunity Hub and NYC Admissions Solutions presented a webinar, High School Admissions: Keys to Success on Tuesday, April 25th virtually so that parents and guardians could learn more about the NYC high school application process and how to select the right school for their child. There were ten participants in the webinar.
Maurice Frumkin who was the presenter for this webinar, is the President of NYC Admissions Solutions and former Deputy Executive Director of High School Admissions with the NYC Department of Education. Over the past 10+ years, Maurice and his team have trained hundreds of school counselors and counseled hundreds of families on the NYC high school admissions process, as well as Pre-K through college admissions. He is a frequent speaker at schools across the city on a variety of admissions topics.
In this webinar, parents were given a timeline of events; which lead up to choices for selecting a high school that will align with their child’s needs. Some of these events include the application strategies and resources to use to help with the selection process.
Additionally, Maurice answered participant’s questions about what to look for during a school open house, how to use websites like Inside Schools, which will help you to narrow down school options, and how to navigate the various thematic programs available within NYC public schools. At the conclusion of the webinar, Maurice held a question and answer session for participants.
