’80 Hip Hop Fashion Show at PS 346

Abe Stark Primary School 346 rounded out Black History Month with a 1980s Hip Hop Fashion Show, displaying numerous artists who’ve contributed to the world of music.

On February 29th, students, teachers and family were transported back to 1980 with the chunky gold chains, bucket hats, and flamboyant clothing inside of the school’s gymnasium. Each outfit took inspiration from Queen Latifah, Sir Mix-a-lot, Salt-N-Pepa, Run-D.M.C., Grand Master Flash and countless other artists who slayed with their sick beats and sense of style that the children emulated down the runway.

Mr. Young opened the show with a beautiful rendition of Life Every Voice and Sing, which was followed by a short skit entitled, “What am I going to wear?” This segment introduced the catwalk, which saw students wearing jump suits, bulky jewelry, neon pink shirts, leopard print hats, and more.
