One of the most anticipated series has returned to Xbox and it may just be the holiday treat fans have been waiting for since the launch of the Xbox Series X. Halo Infinite is a science fiction franchise, created by Bungie, that began on November 15, 2001 with Halo: Combat Evolved on Xbox, and twelve games (and 20 years) later, Halo Infinite returns to what developers call the most expansive Master Chief campaign yet. So far it’s been so well received that gamers voted it the winner of Player’s Voice at the Game Awards 2021—which it earned just one day after its official campaign launch.
Campaign
Halo Infinite’s campaign begins after the war against the Banished, leaving humanity on the brink of extinction as members of the United Nations Space Command attempt to try to connect their forces to take down the threat—soldiers called Spartans. It’s the protagonist’s mission to bring together members of the United Nations Space Command and stop the Banished from destroying the universe. All hope is lost and it is up to Master Chief to step up against the enemy. The campaign mode is accentuated with captive dialogue and strong voice acting. It also helps that the grunts have some of the funniest interactions. There may be moments when you are frustrated when your character is blown off a cliff, but that blow is softened by the humorous insults made by the grunts, which are quite witty, and sometimes they may even dab over your fallen body.
Multiplayer
The first thing to note about Halo Infinite is that those who are members of Xbox Game Pass have free access to this first person shooter. Prior to the official release, Game Pass holders were able to try out the vast multiplayer experience with arena and big team battle modes. In addition to preparing for battle, you can customize your Spartan’s armor, coating, helmet, visor, and more.
Conclusion
Halo Infinite is the 12th iteration in the series’ franchise, and on the Xbox Series X it looks great. The 4K graphics running at 120 FPS enhances the gameplay making it fun to admire while using your grappling hook to get around the campaign mode gathering skulls and other collectables.
