FDA VIII Students Get in the Holiday Spirit

BY AMANDA MOSES

Spring Creek Towers’ students, educators, and staff kicked-off the holiday season this month with wacky dress days and a sleigh full of cheer.

The staff and students of Frederick Douglass Academy VIII (FDA VIII) are celebrating the holidays with a series of themed dress up days throughout the month of December. The festivities commenced on December 2nd, when school pupils and personnel were invited to don “crazy” hats along with their school attire. FDA VIII educators flaunted Santa hats, elf ears, and even a candy cane witch’s caps, while students sported reindeer horned headbands, a Mickey Mouse Fantasia wizard hat, and more.
The event looked to spread goofy glee and laughter, as well as strengthening the bonds between the young scholars and their teachers, but the fun didn’t end there–it was only the beginning.

On December 9th, students attended class wearing their most outrageous and eccentric socks for “crazy sock day.” Principal Chantel Grandchamps wore purple Takis chips socks. Others pulled-up a variety, multi-colored holiday-themed socks, including ankles exhibiting reindeer, Santa Claus, and other festive offerings.

In keeping with time-worn holiday traditions, the next dress-up theme featured ugly sweaters on December 16th. This festive mainstay brought smiles and laughter to all at FDA VIII as they compared holiday sweaters.

Finally, on December 23rd students arrived in class dressed for bed for “Holiday Pajama Day.” The event was set to inspire youth in the yearly spirit.

In addition to spreading holiday cheer with fun dress up days, the teens were also invited to give back with their Annual Winter Hats, Undergarments, and Socks (H.U.G.S.) drive. New and unopened clothing are being accepted until December 23rd.
