On Friday, June 23rd, Frederick Douglass Academy VIII (FDA VIII) held their graduation. There were balloon arches and decorations to celebrate these graduates. Friends and families gathered in the auditorium with an assortment of gifts for the graduates from flowers to stuffed animals.
The Class of 2023 entered into the auditorium and were greeted with the excitement from friends and families. Ms. Green gave opening remarks to everyone. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by Ciara Maldonado and Aiden Suthrland and was followed by the Scholar’s Creed by Aziz Ford and Aiden Suthrland.
Class Valedictorian, Kassandra Toro and Salutatorian, Zainab Ajakaye gave inspiring speeches to their classmates about how bright their future is and how they can achieve great things in their future educational endeavors. Principal Grandchamps gave remarks to the graduating class. Ms. Green presented awards to students who excelled in academics, service awards, most improved, awards from Brooklyn Borough President Merit Award, Eric Adams’ Award of Honor, and many others. Ms. Rubin presented the graduated with their diplomas and Principal Grandchamps conferred the diplomas.
