On Saturday, May 6th, students who are enrolled in the Saturday Academy Science program had their first lesson of this program. Twelve students are taking classes on Saturday mornings to enhance their knowledge of Science for the state exams. These classes also provide live hands-on experiments; which reinforce the lessons, so that the students can actually see how their learning about the subject matter actually works. These Science classes are being held during the last three ses-sions of Saturday Academy, which is from May 6th through May 20th.
During this class, students were guided by their instructor, and creat-ed a hands-on experiment on Self-Inflating Balloons. This lesson’s focus was to learn about chemical reactions. Students learned how to start a chemical reaction that will make a balloon inflate itself. The students enjoyed the experiment.
