Judo Students from Spring Creek Towers Compete Their Way to Success

BY MELISSA BILLIE CLARK
For 36 years, Parnel Legros has been a dedicated Judo teacher in our community, mentoring his students with passion and commitment. His approach to teaching goes beyond just sport; he instills the values of discipline, respect, and hard work. After mentoring some students for eleven years, it’s clear that the time spent with him fosters personal growth and excellence. Legros’s consistent message to his students is simple yet powerful: “You have to put in time with anything you do in life.”
Fourteen-year-old twins Kelsey and JJ Billups are getting ready to celebrate the results of their hard work, much of which was shaped by the guidance of Mr. Legros. As residents of Spring Creek, they are traveling outside their community to showcase their talents. Kelsey is preparing to travel to Cuba later this month to represent the United States. If she continues to perform at her current level, she could qualify for the Olympics. Meanwhile, JJ has just returned from New Rochelle, NY, where he claimed the title of #1 state champion in Judo.

Kudos to Kelsey and JJ for representing Spring Creek Towers and leading by example. We are rooting for you!
