Two of the Starrett Judo Club members participated in the Junior Olympics on Saturday, June 22nd. This is a very tough competition. Jackson “JJ” Billups and his twin sister Kelsey Billups who have been enrolled in Judo for 9 years traveled to Pittsburgh for this tournament.
JJ did not place in the Junior Olympics but Kelsey placed third and brought home a Bronze award. Kelsey is now ranked fourth place in the USA.
“In training nothing happens by accident but rather by design,” said The Great Bompa.
The Starrett Judo Club will be competing in the US Open (This is an international tournament) in Fort Lauderdale from July 26th-28th.
