While they say April showers bring May flowers, store shelves are also beginning to bloom with fresh video games. A host of new titles that harken back to a bygone era are looking to catch the eyes of gamers this month.
Game: System Shock
Platform: PS5

System Shock is making its much anticipated return this month. Known as being the precursor to the much beloved BioShock, this sci-fi, first-person shooter follows a nameless hacker aboard a spaceship set in the year 2072. This remake is said to feature all-new HD visuals, updated controls and interface. Originally developed in 1994, this game is boasted to be one of the most influential games ever created and not it’s been reborn for the PlayStation 5.

Slave Zero X is a classic 2.5D side scrolling action game that takes players into a dystopian future where they must slash their way through each level. This Biopunk dystopian world sees a vengeful warrior on the journey to destroying the cruel Sovereign Khan. With horrific machines called “Slave” ready to destroy humanity, a group known as the Guardians aim to stop these biomecha from being unleashed into the world. One warrior amongst their ranks steals a “Slave” prototype to use their own weapons of mass destruction against them. Gamers can prepare themselves for some killer combos allowing for dynamic swordplay, high flying dashes and wall-jumps outmaneuvering enemies and all to the tune of a 1990s funky beat.

Eiyuden Chronicle is a Japanese Role-Playing Game (JRPG) that is back for a new adventure. The land of Allraan is occupied by a vast number of creatures, elves, beastmen, desert people and humans must be searched for an ancient artifact, and who ever has such a tool may rule the lands. In this world, characters utilize sword play and magical object known as “rune-lenses” to fight. One group, the Galden Empire has discovered a way to amplify their rune-lenses magic, making them more powerful than ever before and if they get their hands on this new artifact their rule would be unstoppable. During an expedition for this artifact, an imperial officer named Seign Kesling befriends a young boy named Nowa, and together they are dragged into a war for power that makes the question what they believe.
