On May 14th, New York City School District 19 hosted a Health and Wellness Fair
at PS 13 located at 557 Pennsylvania Avenue. This event encouraged healthy eating,
nutritional information, and more.
Schools within the district were able to take part in health screenings, watch and
learn from cooking demonstrations as well as participate in fun activities and
giveaways.
Students and staff of Frederick Douglass Academy VIII and Gateway Intermediate
School (IS) 364 participated in the affair, showcasing their knowledge of growing and
harvesting their own vegetation.
FDA VIII utilized coconut coir to grow some of their herbs while members of IS 364
displayed their hydroponic knowledge.
