On September 19th, Abe Stark Primary School (PS) 346 and FrederickDouglass Academy (FDA) VIII celebrated “Dads Take Your Child to School Day” by inviting fathers to join staff and students for a morning of connection over breakfast.
As groggy children were ushered into the cafeteria by their fathers, many dads were dressed in their work attire, in need of a strong cup of coffee to help kickstart their own day. It was an eventful morning where children enjoyed the opportunity to chat with their dads over breakfast. This relaxed setting allowed for families to have meaningful conversations and quality bonding time with the male figures in their lives, making the morning even more special for both fathers and their child.
At P.S. 346, elementary students gathered in their cafeteria, while middle schoolers – at FDA VIII gathered in a multipurpose room. Although some of the pre-teens were not exactly eager to be at school, they embraced the chance to spend quality time with their fathers, posing for photos and talking to their teachers.
The annual Dads Take Your Child to School Day is a campaign launched in 2007 to engage the men in school children’s lives through positive reinforcement and activities.
