Samsung developed an innovative way to launch their newest devices with seven interactive Galaxy Experience spaces from Seoul, South Korea to New York City.
The Galaxy Open Market opened on July 26th in Midtown Manhattan at 50 West 34th Street, with the slogan “Join the flip side” where guests had the opportunity to explore the plethora of products available and even pre-order those hitting stores soon.
This space was different than any other marketing showcase, instead of simply having tech on a table to peruse through, Samsung created a game out of it. Everyone was asked to either use their own phones to download the Galaxy Experience App or were given a sheet of paper with a checklist, and like a scavenger hunt, they would stop by multiple stations to learn about the products and then receive a stamp for points. Once you’ve gathered enough points, attendees can cash it in for a small prize (some lucky winners could even win a new phone, watch, or other device).
“We’re excited to offer visitors the chance to immerse themselves in the latest Galaxy ecosystem and see first-hand how it can enrich their everyday lives,” said Stephanie Choi, EVP & Head of Marketing of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics in a press release. “We look forward to welcoming all those who visit to an interactive and personalized setting at one of our global Galaxy Experience Spaces.”
The best part of this space was the exclusive meet and greets with K-Pop idols each Saturday (Tiffany Young from Girls Generation, Aaron, Ashely Choi, AleXa, rapper pH-1, and Eric Nam), as well as an exclusive, intimate performance by Eric Nam as he prepares to release his new album and go on tour this fall. Presented by Dive Studios, the space also held Mindset Town Hall events (Mindset is a company run by Brian Nam, Eddie Nam and Eric Nam with the goal to share inclusive Asian American and Pacific Islander stories and bring awareness to mental health).
The space closed on August 20th with a special Town Hall moderated by Brian Nam, CEO and Co-Founder of Mindset, and included an in-depth conversation about the industry with his two brothers and Rebecca Benghia the President and Chief Operating Officer at the Jed Foundation.
