On May 12th, Spring Creek Seniors Partner (SCSP) hosted a Caribbean-themed Mother’s Day luncheon at their office located on 160 Schroeders Avenue (G6).
The light, rhythmic pitter-patter of steelpan music emanated from SCSP’s multipurpose room as dozens of seniors gathered across four rectangular dining tables for their fun-filled luncheon. Decorated in beautiful shades of purple, each table was filled with snacks, apple cider, and a delicious lunch for members to enjoy as they listened to music performed by steelpan musician Alton.
Some danced in their seats, while others pushed back their chairs and swayed their hips to the music. The multipurpose room was filled to the brim with excited seniors, so much so that an extra table was placed outside of the SCSP office for staff.
For members like Mary Scott, the luncheon is the perfect opportunity to socialize with others and it also makes her feel recognized for her years of dedication to her family and work.
“I think it’s amazing,” Scott exclaimed, “What I enjoy most about this event is the whole mother’s coming together on one accord and enjoying each other’s company, laughter and just listening into music it’s all out of sight and makes me feel good.”
