On March 26, Colombian pop star Shakira has transformed the pain from her divorce from ex-husband, Spanish soccer player Gerald Pique into an empowering album: Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, which translates to “Women no longer cry.”

Thousands lined the streets of Times Square for an opportunity to see a few songs live atop the TSX Entertainment stage.

Shaking her hips in traditional Shakira fashion, the Latina singer impressed with her upbeat breakup dance songs as well as a few heartbreak melodies. It’s been seven years since Shakira released an album—which was El Dorado in 2017—and fans were already enamored with the new release. With less than three hours notice via social media, crowds began to gather around 4:30 pm for the 7:15 p.m. performance, which lasted about 30 minutes.

Songs such as “Punteria,” “Te Felicito,” and “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions Vol. 53” were already hits, seeing thousands sing and dance along.
