Gamers get ready to set sail with Ubisoft’s RPG seafaring expedition, Skull and Bones. Step into the worn leather boots of a pirate during the 17th century as you build a crew, make a name for yourself, and take down your adversaries one cannon blow at a time.

Story

Ahoy, Captain is not exactly the first words you will hear when you boot up Skull and Bones. No, this is a title your character, which you can completely customize, must earn on his or her own through scallywag missions and cutthroat battles. This online adventure, which you can also partner with up to two friends, allows you to commandeer ships, loot wrecked vessels, and sell your wares as you search the seven seas in this open world iteration. That being said, the actual narrative of the game can feel more tedious than interesting since it’s more about investigating outposts and participating in quests. The story comes off as a foundation to build upon, completing one mission and going to the next location to check off a box; however the really meaty part of Skull and Bones is its actual piracy—looting and fighting.

Gamplay

While it can be stress inducing, especially when you have a whole lot of loot you could potentially loose, the ship-to-ship fight sequences are a lot of fun. Maneuvering and performing counter measures as you doge cannons and plot timing when to board an enemies’ ship becomes a strategic battle of wits against other online players or fleets. While there will be times you will find yourself flailing away down to Davey Jones Locker, other moments when you’ve won and successfully plundered your foe it will feel glorious. As you gain more money and skills, you can craft stronger ships that are not just full of swag but has the power to power through naval fleets looking to persecute your piracy.

Conclusion

Overall, Skull and Bones, despite having a few glitches and bugs here and there, is still a fun outing to enjoy since it’s all about notoriety and getting enough gold to customize your gear and ability to make fast repairs while fighting on the wate
