The Spring Creek After School Program reinforces many of the lessons taught in school for the children, in addition to providing homework help; the program incorporates STEM lessons, arts and crafts, performing arts, trips, fun Fridays, while also having physical fitness as a component of their curriculum.
All of the students enrolled in the Spring Creek After School Program from kindergarten to the fifth grade participate in the yoga sessions. The yoga lessons are taught by instructor, Stacy McClean of Yogisha, Inc.
Ms. McClean is a certified yoga instructor and the lessons she offers are once a month for duration of one hour that is split into two 30-minute intervals. The children really enjoy yoga. They appreciate having a safe space where they can relax and meditate.

As the weather warms up the children will be having yoga lessons outdoors. The outdoor yoga sessions that are offered to the children will give them the opportunity to explore outdoor meditation and learn self-centering techniques. “I love yoga and Ms. Stacy shows me how to be calm and how to shape my body like a tree,” said Autumn from the K/1 group.

Yoga was introduced to the program a few years ago and it was found to be a great stress reliever for the students and staff. Yoga is offered in the Spring Creek After School Program every year.
