Spring Creek After School Students Hit High Notes

BY: PAMELA STERN

The Spring Creek After School Program has weekly Learning Educational Arts Program (LEAP) lessons on Mondays. LEAP is an organization that provides a wide variety of Educational Arts Programs. Mr. Melvin Cox is one of LEAP’s Drama Residency Facilitators, who will be working with the fourth and fifth graders.
Mr. Cox will be providing the students with engaging activities that range from Dance, Acting, and Singing. This is part of Mr. Cox’s curriculum to cover these aspects of performing arts because it ties under the genre of drama.

On March 28th, the fourth and fifth graders were in for a treat. This lesson consisted of vocal warm-ups. The children were taught the importance of vocal warm-ups. Cox practiced vocal warm-ups with the students. After their lesson the group collectively practiced singing “For Forever” by Ben Platt.
The students enjoyed their lesson and are looking forward to the next one. Deliah, a fourth grade student stated, “This is so helpful for the singing career I am planning to have.”
