Spring Creek Senior Partners Volunteer Luncheon

On June 23rd, Spring Creek Senior Partners (SCSP) hosted their Annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon in the Brooklyn Sports Club’s (BSC) gymnasium to show their appreciation for those who willingly give their time to help others.

SCSP Director, Jahiah Wilson believes that it is important to demonstrate his appreciation for the numerous volunteers who take their time to call seniors every day and inquire about their well-being, join them on exercise walks, and even help them run errands. It is this dedication to the older adult community that Wilson wanted to commend, as well as local elected officials like: Council Member, Charles Barron and New York State Senator, Roxanne Persaud who shared their appreciation through representatives and citations at the SCSP event.

“I just wanted to thank everybody who’ve come to celebrate this festive event. I want to keep it short because it is not about me. So, enjoy the lunch. Enjoy the moment. Thank you for being here with us,” Wilson said.

The BSC gymnasium was transformed into an elegant luncheon with several tables covered in earthy colored linen cloths and flowers, as well as balloon arch ways and a large banner that said, “Thank you.” Even the basketball hoops were freshened up with flowers and vines hanging from them, creating a sophisticated atmosphere worthy of a Fifth Avenue restaurant.

The event concluded with musical performances from a trumpet player, a steelpan musician, and songs by the Brooklyn Arch Crew. In addition to the showcase, there was a distribution of certificates of appreciation and gifts to the volunteers (which included water bottles, pens, a writing pad and a key chain with the inscription “Thank you,” on it) as a token of admiration for all that they do for older adults.
