Game: Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

Platform: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, Microsoft Windows

Rating: T for Teen

Cost: $69.99

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor jumps straight back into Cal Kestis’ journey as he continues his battle against the Galactic Empire’s darkness and attempts to fulfill the work from the Jedi Order.  In this sequel, Kesits explores even more new planets and staples from the Star Wars universe as he must choose what he is willing to do to save those closest to him. Similar to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Kestis is able to master new skills, equipment and abilities (additionally, many of the abilities he earned in the last game carry over).

Story

For those who are fans of the cartoon Star Wars: Clone Wars and the prequels, there are plenty of call backs to the implementation of Order 66 and the repercussions that followed. As the Galactic Empire rises above the ashes of the republic, there are new enemies Kestis must face, like the nefarious Bedlam Raiders who are wreaking havoc on the planet Koboh. During these interactions with the raiders, there are also plenty of Storm Troopers and even separatist droids to destroy along the way.

Gameplay

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a vast open world like game with so many paths to choose, which is also a bit confusing when you are trying to get to the next part of your mission without a clear way point.  It has been noted by players that the PC and PlayStation 5 versions of the game have a few glitches and well as performance issues; however, developers stated that a patch update will be released to remedy these issues.  (One small patch that addresses crashes and other performance issues has already been released for the PC). Despite the issues here and there, the overall game is an open-world wonder with fan favorite Star Wars lore, making it a special experience for gamers. Combat mechanics are the same as in the last game, and skills/abilities are customizable to how you want to use your Jedi powers.

Conclusion

Overall, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor accomplishes what it set out to do, which was to create an epic voyage of a lone Jedi attempting to prevent mayhem and destruction and to utilize the force for good. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s voice acting, visually stunning environments, interaction with the planet locals, motion capture fighting scenes, and narrative creates a fun-filled galaxy adventure that will enrapture and enchant gamers. Be prepared for a poignant story that will leave you emotionally invested.
