The St. Patrick’s Day Parade Returns as NYC’s Largest Celebration

With good ol’ luck of the Irish, New York City was able to return to an in-person St. Patrick’s Day parade making it the largest festivity to occur in Manhattan since the onslaught of the pandemic.

Just two years ago, the St. Patrick’s Day parade was one of the first mass revelries to be canceled as New York City went into lock down, and now it’s the first to come back full scale with thousands of spectators.

Close to 200 participants brought laughter, music, and the color green back onto the city streets from 44th Street and Park Avenue up to 84th Street. In addition to the marching bands, bag pipes, and flag waving, the parade also paid homage to the 20th anniversary of 9-11 since they were unable to do so last year due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Mayor Eric Adams and NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell helped kick-off the march leading the parade with the NYPD Police Band.
