The Tribeca Festival (TF) is just around the corner—June 7th to June 18th—with this year’s lineup consisting of 109 feature films from 127 filmmakers across 36 countries (93 of which are world premieres).
Presented by OKX, this year’s festival lineup was announced on April 18th and includes 43 first-time directors (29 directors returning to TFF), 41% of all feature films are directed by women and 36% are feature films are directed by Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) filmmakers.
Steve Buscemi’s feature The Listener will be making its North American Premiere as well as 53 documentaries including the much-anticipated documentary Stan Lee by Tribeca Alumnus David Gelb, and numerous films that spotlight the ongoing war and turmoil in the Ukraine and the protests silencing activists and artists in Iran.
Since the festival has shifted toward the summer months for the third year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Tribeca Festival will continue commemorating Juneteenth through the “Expressions of Black Freedom” program, featuring the 50th anniversary of hip-hop celebration and more.
Additionally, there will be special performances by Alicia Keys who curated She is the Music artists, Sara Bareilles will perform following the world premiere of Waitress, the Musical – Live on Broadway, and Gloria Gaynor will sing after the premiere Gloria Gaynor: I Will Survive.
“The Tribeca Festival is a celebratory event that honors artists and uplifts attendees, and this year is no exception with a lineup of 109 feature films from 127 filmmakers. Over the course of 12 thrilling days, we invite audiences to explore the magic of storytelling as a powerful tool of democracy, activism, and social awareness,” Tribeca Festival Co-Founder and Tribeca Enterprises CEO Jane Rosenthal said in a press release. “We’re also proud to highlight the 50th anniversary of hip-hop as a culture-defining genre that originated right here in New York City, with insightful world premieres about beat-boxing legends and live performances from today’s top-charting musicians.”

Tribeca Festival is known for showcasing groundbreaking films and directorial debuts, but in addition to this they also host talks, epic reunions, and spotlight musical performances.
Here is a list of some of the 2023 Tribeca Festival Talks, Reunion lineups, and performances:
- Storytellers Series includes Paul McCartney, John Mellencamp in conversation with David Letterman, Lin-Manuel Miranda in conversation with Academy Award-nominated actor Rosie Perez, and more.
- The Directors Series features director, David Fincher in conversation with Academy Award-winning director, Steven Soderberg, as well as director, Patty Jenkins in conversation with director and actress, Katie Holmes.
- Kevin Sullivan and Angela Bassett reunite to celebrate the 25th anniversary of How Stella Got Her Groove Back.
- Mario Van Peebles, Michael Michele, and Fab 5 Freddy return for New Jack City.
- The Third Annual Harry Belafonte Voices for Social Justice Award will be awarded to Academy Award-winning actor, producer, author, and activist, Jane Fonda.
- The award, an original drawing entitled Exodus #3 from artist Julie Mehretu, is being presented by Grammy-winning artist, Alicia Keys.
- Sara Bareilles will give a special performance following the world premiere of Waitress, the Musical – Live on Broadway!
- Gloria Gaynor will perform following the world premiere of Gloria Gaynor: I Will Survive.
