Get your Easter hats, with all the frills upon them, ready, because Brooklyn’s most stylish spring tradition is hopping back into town!
Assemblywoman Nikki Lucas, in partnership with Congressman Hakeem Jeffries, is putting a fashionable spin on the season with the 10th Annual Easter Hat Pageant and Luncheon, set for Thursday, April 2, from noon to 6 p.m. at the Brooklyn Sports Club.
Think less ordinary luncheon and more runway meets Sunday brunch, where seniors from across Brooklyn’s 60th Assembly District will gather in their most egg-straordinary ensembles for an afternoon bursting with color, community, and couture-level creativity.
Each year, the beloved event transforms the venue into a parade of pastel pageantry, where dazzling bonnets and sharp toppers take center stage. Guests will enjoy a lively luncheon, music, entertainment, and door prizes, but the real showstopper is the signature Easter Hat Pageant, where fashion and flair rule the day.
The crowd-favorite competitions, including the Ladies’ Dazzling Bonnet Contest and the Gentlemen’s Dashing Hat Competition, invite attendees to strut their seasonal style, from feathered fascinators to bold, brimmed masterpieces. Expect plenty of chic chicks, blooming brims, and egg-cellent style moments as participants showcase hats that are as unique as the personalities wearing them.
But beyond the fashion spectacle lies a deeper purpose.

“At a time when many seniors across New York City face isolation and rising costs, opportunities for connection are more important than ever,” Lucas said. “This celebration brings our elders together for joy, laughter and fellowship. Our seniors helped build this community, and this day is about honoring them while creating a space to connect, celebrate and have fun.”
Hosted by Lisa Lashley, Esq., the event is supported by community organizations and local sponsors committed to uplifting seniors in East New York. Over the past decade, the Easter Hat Pageant and Luncheon has grown into a beloved neighborhood tradition, part social gathering, part fashion showcase and all heart.
Those wishing to attend must RSVP in advance. Seniors can reserve their seat or register for the pageant by contacting Linda Miller at 917-803-0249 or Sandra Pinder at 917-359-2799.
With hats tipped high and spirits even higher, this stylish spring celebration proves that when it comes to community and fashion, Brooklyn’s seniors always rise to the occasion, looking absolutely marvelous while doing it. nd enjoy the strength of community.
