K-Pop Korner: The Comebacks, Breakouts, and NYC Takeovers You Need to Know
By Amanda Moses
What was once a global wave is now a dominant force and this spring, K-pop and the wider Asian music industry are breaking barriers and redefining representation worldwide. From long-awaited comebacks to rising rookies and New York City takeovers, here’s what’s driving the scene now.

BTS Are Back—and Bigger Than Ever
After nearly four years away from the stage as a full group, BTS has officially returned.
The group launched their BTS World Tour ‘ARIRANG’ in North America on April 25, opening with three sold-out nights at Raymond James Stadium that drew a staggering 190,000 fans. The tour follows the chart – topping success of “ARIRANG”, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, with lead single “SWIM” also reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Designed as a 360-degree, in-the-round experience, the show places fans at the center, both literally and emotionally, delivering a high-energy set featuring new songs and classic hits. The tour will not reach the tri-state area until Aug. 1 and Aug. 2 at MetLife Stadium; however, both dates are sold out.
ALL(H)OURS Double Down with ‘NO DOUBT’

Rising rookies ALL(H)OURS are wasting no time proving their staying power. Their fifth mini-album NO DOUBT builds on the momentum they’ve carried since their January 2024 debut, one that has already earned them multiple rookie nominations across major awards circuits.
The standout track, “DEAD MAN WALKING,” enters a bolder conceptual edge, with each member embodying a different sin in the dark, creating a theatrical and undeniably catchy theme. Following their first North American fancon at White Eagle Hall, the group is clearly positioning themselves as ones to watch.
Next Wave: A2O MAY and the Rise of Zalpha Pop

If you haven’t heard of A2O MAY yet, that’s about to change.
The five-member act, Chenyu, Shijie, Quchang, Miche, and Kat, are carving out a new lane with “Zalpha Pop,” a genre coined by Soo Man Lee that blends Gen Z and Gen Alpha sensibilities into a distinctly global sound. The style fuses digital-age confidence with genre-bending production and layered emotional storytelling.
These talented young women aren’t just another pop group; they’re stepping into the spotlight with an undeniable presence, echoing the high-gloss energy of their hit track “Paparazzi Arrive.”
EVERGLOW’s NYC Era: Rebirth in Motion

EVERGLOW turned their New York City stop into a full-circle moment of reinvention.
From an Earth Day kickoff at The Shops at Skyview to a spontaneous dance moment in Times Square and a club-style performance at Brooklyn Monarch, the group’s April 15-17 visit was more than a comeback; it marked a symbolic reset.
Now reintroduced as a four-member act, E:U, Sihyeon, Onda, and Aisha, EVERGLOW’s latest EP “CODE” signals a new chapter rooted in their signature “쇠맛 (metallic) sound, while evolving in texture and intensity.
BIG OCEAN Prove They’re ‘ALIVE’

At Music Hall of Williamsburg, Big Ocean delivered a powerful statement during their performance: disability does not equate to limitations.
As the first hard-of-hearing K-pop group, they brought precision, emotion, and purpose to their April 12 “The Greatest Battle” tour stop. Much like their single “ALIVE,” the message was clear: they’re here, they’re visible, and they’re just getting started.
The group is emerging as a breakthrough act in K-Pop, with a growing global impact that challenges expectations and broadens representation in the genre.
Up Next: AMPERS&ONE Take the Stage

After winning over U.S. audiences as the opening act for P1Harmony, AMPERS&ONE are stepping into their own spotlight.
The group is set to perform at the Gerald W Lynch Theater on May 8, showcasing their growth with a setlist that blends fan favorites, new material from “[Definition]”, and exclusive stages created for the tour. Audience should expect sharp choreography, live vocals, and the kind of fan interaction that often turns casual listeners into dedicated supporters.
