For seniors in Spring Creek Towers, bingo offers a chance to socialize, enjoy friendly competition, and spend time with neighbors. Hosted by the Jewish Association for Services for the Aged (JASA), the weekly sessions have become a popular gathering for older residents.

Held in the cafeteria on the lower level of the Brooklyn Sports Club, the games bring participants together for an afternoon of conversation, laughter and excitement as players listen for their numbers and hope to call out “Bingo!”

Virginia I. enjoys the competition and would welcome more opportunities to play.

“I love Bingo, but I want Bingo more than one day out of the week, at least two days,” she said. “My favorite part about Bingo is winning.”

For Daisy, a Spring Creek Towers resident of 28 years, the sessions offer a chance to reconnect with friends and get out of the house.

“I love Bingo,” Daisy said. “You come out and meet your friends. You have things to do right away, and it’s beautiful. We have a nice time playing Bingo.”

Wendy Klein, who has lived in Spring Creek Towers for 49 years, also appreciates the opportunity to stay active and socialize with fellow residents.

“As a senior, you have to stay busy. You have to keep your mind going and your body moving, and so it’s something to do,” Klein said. “I get to be around a group of people that I like. They’re all great people. All my Bingo players, and I like to do it.”

JASA’s bingo sessions take place every Monday at 1 p.m., giving seniors a regular opportunity to enjoy an activity and strengthen friendships within their community.
