On May 2nd, the Spring Creek After School Program’s students took a trip to Legoland Discovery Center in Westchester County. At Legoland, the students engaged in a STEM building activity where they created their own Lego racecars and challenged each other to see which car can race the fastest.

The children were able to explore the Legoland mini land, which showcased New York City attractions, including; an interactive Yankee Stadium pinball machine, and they were able to take pictures on top of the replica of the Empire State Building.

Michelle from Group 4 said, “It was great spending time with my friends and Mom because I was able to spend quality time while having fun building Legos with them.”

The children were divided into mini-groups where they enjoyed participating in an interactive game, where they were able to save the Lego princess from the trolls. One of the highlights of the trip was that the children were able to watch a 4D mini Lego Movie. In the 4D movie theatre, the children were able to wear 3D glasses and experience the effects of the movie. The 15 minute short film focused on how to be patient and always focus on what makes you uniquely you.

“OMG, imagine watching a 3D movie and you feel the effects of the movie, spritz of water and noises, THAT WAS AWESOME,” said Jeremiah from Group 3.

The consensus was that the students really enjoyed themselves at Legoland. “ This was the best trip I have been on in a long time, can’t wait to come back,” said Haylee from Group 4.
