Led by case manager Symphony Mitchell, The Opp Hub hosted its inaugural ‘Love Your Benefits’ event in honor of Valentine’s Day. Some of the matters covered throughout the event include SNAP, Cash Benefits, The Art of Document Folder Building, and Resources.

“The event was intentionally designed to combine warmth with structure, ” Mitchell said to the Spring Creek Sun. “From the Speed Casing model to the prep sheets and direct DSS access, everything was built to reduce confusion and create clear, actionable next steps.”

In the spirit of assisting members of the community, this workshop wasn’t designed to be a traditional, run-of-the-mill workshop. In particular, Mitchell made it a point to structure it as an “interactive experience where participants could assess their needs without feeling pressured to enroll immediately.”

Some of the offerings presented included quick consultations, direct DSS access, printed prep sheets for those waiting, clear signage on how community members can access help and a soft, inviting aesthetic to counter the heaviness of the topics.

In addition to these opportunities, Mitchell coined a novel segment called “Speed Casing” for those in attendance.

“The ‘Speed Casing’ concept was inspired by speed dating,” Mitchell said to Spring Creek Sun. “I wanted a fun, theme-aligned way to create quick, structured, one-on-one consultations. It allowed participants to gauge whether they needed ongoing case management, DSS clarification, or simply informational resources.

In alignment with Valentine’s Day, it was Mitchell and The Opp Hub’s desire to show love to those who need help in this respective part of their life experience.

“I kept the Valentine’s theme consistent but purposeful, ” Mitchell said to the Spring Creek Sun. “The idea of ‘Love Your Benefits’ wasn’t just cute branding – it was about helping people reconnect with resources that are often confusing or overlooked.”

The event was designed as both a ‘resource moment’ and an intake funnel for future engagement.
