The Young Adult Program (YAP) kicked-off the spooky season by celebrating 30 years of Fright Fest at Six Flags Great Adventure on October 23rd.
Deemed the ultimate Halloween experience starting at dusk, members of YAP prepared themselves for a free frightful adventure for their first out of state field trip. About 28 young adults boarded a sprinter bus at 12pm from the Brooklyn Sports Club and arrived at Six Flags at 2pm. After dividing into groups for those who wanted to go onto extreme roller coaster rides went into one group, while the others enjoyed the park at their own leisure until 5:30 pm when Fright Fest began.
“Everyone was able to enjoy the theme park at their own leisure and then at night we went to haunted houses together,” Eileen Level, the Co-Director for YAP said.
Once the sun went down, that’s when the real creepy fun began. Level described a fountain in the middle of the park, which was filled with red water giving off the appearance of blood and as the night set in fog machines created a mist as workers dressed in costumes jumped out to give attendees plenty of scares.
Level stated that each of the members expressed their gratitude for the free field trip, and the ability to go on roller coaster rides and visit two new haunted houses with the themes from the films Saw X and the Conjuring.
“It was super scary, we were all holding onto each other so tightly I thought my arm was going to break,” Level said laughing.
Once the field trip ended, everyone slept peacefully on the bus as they made their way back to Spring Creek Towers.
