Spring Creek Towers Celebrates 50th Anniversary

By Amanda Moses

Spring Creek Towers (SCT), formerly known as Starrett City, opened to it first residents in 1974 with the -vision -of creating a “City within a City.” Now, the 46-building residential complex nestled between a national state park, the Belt Parkway and East New York has blossomed into a vibrant community – filled with diverse residents.

In honor of the anniversary, Twin Pines Management hosted a -field day themed event on September 28th from 11 am to 5 pm at the G Section Lawn. Despite the rain, residents flocked to the event, eager to – enjoy yoga, Zumba, music, games, food and giveaways.

Residents threw their hands in the air with excitement as they dance, colored in a mural depicting SCT buildings, played checkers, and shared their fondest memories of the complex on a board.

The event was enhanced by the energetic emcee, Rahsaan “Dizzy Brown” Harris, the Community Liaison from The Opportunity Hub. He introduced Heze, member of Department of Public Safety Young Adult Program and his dance troupe.
