The Opportunity Hub Launches New Community Farm Stand at Spring Creek Towers 

Residents of Spring Creek Towers now have a new opportunity to purchase fresh, locally grown produce thanks to the launch of The Opportunity Hub Farm Stand. 

The new farm stand officially opened on June 4 and will operate every Thursday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. through Nov. 19. Located at 1390 Pennsylvania Avenue in front of the shopping center, the stand offers fruits and vegetables grown at the Opp Hub Farm and brought in from local farms in the Hudson Valley.  

The initiative is designed to increase access to fresh food while encouraging healthy lifestyles and community engagement. By growing produce locally and making it available directly to residents, The Opportunity Hub hopes to create a convenient and affordable source of fresh fruits and vegetables for families in the neighborhood. 

“Bringing The Opp Hub Farm Stand into fruition feels like such an accomplishment,” Senior Farm Director Jesse Miller said. “I’m so proud of my team and I feel so joyful that they community has embraced it with open arms. It was wonderful to see a line of about 15 folks at 2PM and the excitement around our fresh, high-quality produce and we’re just excited to keep it running it back every week for the rest of the season.”   

The farm stand represents an investment in both community wellness and sustainability. Organizers say the project allows residents to connect more closely with where their food comes from while supporting local growing efforts within Spring Creek Towers. 

Throughout the season, shoppers can expect a variety of fresh produce harvested from the urban farm. The stand also serves as an opportunity for residents to learn more about urban agriculture and the benefits of incorporating fresh foods into their daily diets. 

As food access continues to be a concern in many communities, initiatives like the Opportunity Hub Farm Stand aim to provide practical solutions while creating gathering spaces that bring neighbors together. 

To make fresh, healthy food more affordable, shoppers using SNAP benefits can stretch their dollars through our Health Bucks incentive program. For every $2 spent with an EBT card at participating markets, shoppers receive $2 in Health Bucks to spend on additional fruits and vegetables. This dollar-for-dollar match helps families bring home more nutritious food while supporting local farmers and strengthening access to healthy options in the community. Members of the Spring Creek community are encouraged to participate.  

 “I’m excited to meet more people who are excited about fresh and local food,” Assistant Farm Manager Grace Walsh-Little said. “And be able to have it be a community space that is just full of joy and sharing of knowledge. I think a lot of people love to talk about how they’re going to cook with the food, so really meeting more people and being able to get a lot of feedback to make sure we understand what people want to see at the farm stand and really being able to have a farm stand that’s for them.”
