The Opportunity Hub (The Opp Hub) offered a chance for individuals interested in preventive medicine to receive a free breast cancer screening. The American-Italian Cancer Foundation’s mammogram bus was stationed in front of The Opp Hub headquarters at 1234 Pennsylvania Avenue, on December 14th Guests enjoyed hot cocoa, refreshments, and a movie while waiting for their screening.
According to the American Cancer Society an estimated 310,720 of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in the United States.
A community member shared with the Spring Creek Sun, “I am so grateful. I cannot afford health insurance right now, so this is a blessing and a lifesaver.” Another neighbor mentioned, “I work so much during the week that I rarely have time to care for myself. Seeing this on a Saturday was outstanding; I even brought my friend along. I learned so much about the Opp Hub and had no idea Spring Creek Towers had a non-profit organization. They are definitely on my radar now.”
The Opportunity Hub strives to help the community of Spring Creek Towers and neighboring East New York residents live their best lives! To learn more about upcoming events, head over to www.theopphub.org
