Dreaming of Hanukkah is an illustrative children’s book written by Amy Shoenthal and illustrated by Kate Durkin. This book showcases the customs and festivities that take place during Hanukkah.
This is a very cute and easy read for youngsters who are learning to read and are also learning about the festive Jewish Holiday, Hanukkah. The children in the book are not only Dreaming of Hanukkah, but they are counting down to the holiday also known as the Festival of Lights. They are learning about some of the customary foods that are eaten during Hanukkah like chocolate coins known as gelt, doughnuts, and latkes along with the story of Hanukkah about the Maccabees, playing with the dreidels, singing songs, lighting the candles and saying the blessings over the menorah and receiving presents each night.
This is a great book for you to read to your child or for your child to read. It would make a great Hanukkah present!
