There are some games that invoke memories of childhood once booted up on your consoles, and with each remastered release we are able to relive the nostalgia at a higher resolution, frame rate, and less loading times. The latest revamped iteration available this month is Crysis, a trilogy jam-packed with upgrades that jumpstarts a series created into 2007 to whole new depths.
The story
Crysis is a first-person shooter following a super-soldier named Nomad, who is armed with a nano suit that increases the average person’s speed, strength, stealth, and armor. What started out as a rescue mission transforms into an all-out alien invasion on the Lingshan Island chain in North Korea. Crysis 2 takes place in an alien ravaged New York City, and once again the infamous nano suit, which has been upgraded with customizable abilities and weapons, is needed to help stop humanity’s destruction. Similar to Crysis 2, the third iteration once again takes place in New York City; however, this time the climate destruction from the last alien invasion altered the metropolitan area into an urban rainforest with seven districts that you must fight through against both human and alien forces.
Crysis Improvements
Released on October 15th by developers Saber Interactive and Crytek GmbH, this all-in-one bundle has been fully optimized for the next-generation console. The previous versions played at 720p resolution and only 30fps, and now each game runs between 1080p and 4k with a dynamic resolution and more stable frame rate on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. Upon playing the series, you’ll noticeright away that blocky, faded environments are now brighter with an improved depth-of-field. The visual improvements can be seen through the intricate details of the characters and weapons as well.
Crysis issue
The Spring Creek Sun purchased the trilogy upon it’s release; however, it took a whole day to play due to a glitch. For some players using the Xbox Series X, there is an issue booting up the first game after it downloads. Originally, a remastered version of the first Crysis game was released in September; however, there were several updates since then. Crysis Remastered Trilogy holds the files for each game that must be downloaded onto your system in order to play. For some reason, the first game in the series would not start and an error message would occur stating that an update was required, but was not available at the time—which may be due to the disc not containing the latest update. To resolve this issue, you should place the disc in your console, but instead of downloading the first game from your physical copy go to the Microsoft store,sSelect Crysis Remastered (not the trilogy, just the first game) and download it. You should not be charged since your Xbox will recognize the disc in your system.
Conclusion
Cysis Remastered Trilogy is a series of action-packed shooters that have been vastly improved with a crystal-clear image. Aside from the bumpy start, this all-in-one pack will bring back plenty of memories.
