Generations Collide At SELC

Despite rainy weather on April 22, a group of seniors brought warmth and sunshine to the Starrett City Early Learning Center during a special intergenerational visit with neighborhood toddlers. 

With two vastly different generations colliding, the event saw seniors and children tapping into their creativity through a series of Arts & Crafts activities.  Children and visitors spent the day hand-painting and creating makeshift cars using construction paper, glue, and other craft materials.  

The intergenerational gathering gave participants the opportunity to connect with the seniors who shared their fun stories, creating meaningful bonds with the toddlers.  

Teachers told the Spring Creek Sun that the visit would serve as a core memory for early childhood development. In addition to supporting classroom activities, the seniors served as positive role models while helping reinforce social skills such as communication, sharing, and collaboration.
