Gobbling Good Time at SELC

Students at the Starrett Early Learning Center (SELC) enjoyed a cheerful “gobble, gobble” on Nov. 25 as they gathered virtually for the school’s annual Friendsgiving celebration.
SELC hosted the festivities on Zoom, transforming classrooms at 125 Schroeders Avenue and 1325 Pennsylvania Avenue into one big shared Thanksgiving stage. Families tuned in from their living rooms and kitchens, watching proudly as the children sang songs, recited poems, and took turns sharing what they were most thankful for this year.

Many students expressed their gratitude for their families, while others proudly demonstrated a new skill learned for the occasion: serving themselves during their Friendsgiving lunch. Teachers guided them through the small but meaningful tradition, giving the students a chance to practice independence while celebrating togetherness.
The joyful event ended with the children leaning toward their screens, waving enthusiastically, and chiming in unison:
“Happy Friendsgiving!”
