Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks

Thousands gathered in the streets, on their balconies, and even on the rooftops of their apartment buildings to get a good view of the 47th Annual Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks on the East River waterway.

New Yorkers donned patriotic apparel, LED glasses, and other accessories in celebration of July 4th. In anticipation of the annual extravaganza, spectators lined up by the pier in Long Island City to catch a glimpse of the more than 60,000 fireworks shells exploding above the city skyline.

This year’s display kicked-off differently compared to previous showcases. The Macy’s team utilized 500 drones for a surprise light performance! The drones lit up in the shape of the American flag, Statue of Liberty, and an old school stereo system—and with a big bang thousands of fireworks exploded for 25-minutes.
