On October 14th, New York City held one of the largest celebrations of Italian American heritage during the 80th Annual Columbus Day Parade in Midtown Manhattan.

The streets along Fifth Avenue from 47th Street to 79th Street were filled with a sea of red, white and red flags as over 30,000 participants paid tribute to Italian heritage. Historically, the event was first celebrated in New York City in 1929 and was created by the Knights of Columbus, who laid a wreath at Columbus Circle to commemorate Italian immigrants to America and show their appreciation for their culture and traditions.

Thousands of New Yorkers and elected officials, such as New York State Governor Kathy Hochul and New York City Mayor Eric Adams, attended the parade, paying their respects to religious leaders outside St. Patrick’s Cathedral on 51st Street and Fifth Avenue.
