So Very Sly is a dance rendition that took place on June 29th and a second showing will take place on June 30th at the Mark O’Donnell Theatre at the Entertainment Community Fund Arts Center at 7:30pm. This is musical production that features the music of the group Sly & The Family Stone and is produced by the Thelma Hill Performing Arts Center (THPAC). This is celebration of music and dance was conceived and produced by THPAC Executive Chairman, Alex Smith, Jr.
This show was developed to showcase the influence that Sly & The Family Stone’s music has and how they transformed the music industry. Some of their more popular songs are; “ Everyday People,” “Hot Fun in the Summer,” “Dance to the Music,” “ I Want To Take You Higher,” “Thank You,” and “ It’s A Family Affair.”
“This is not a retro piece; it is a new musical interpretation of the band’s music,” said Smith, Jr. “The intention is to share this powerful, driving music to a new generation while giving it a dynamic dance dimension.”
