NYC Village Halloween Parade Celebrates 50th Anniversary

By Amanda Moses

The infamous New York City Village Halloween Parade celebrated 50 years of ghoulish delight welcoming thousands of participants and spectators.  Kicking off on Canal Street and Sixth Avenue and stretching up until West 15th Street, parade floats, marching bands, dancers, and costumed revelers brought spooktacular fun onto the city streets despite the cold weather.

There were dancers adorn in LED lights, monsters covered in fake blood, and superheroes running through the streets much to the excitement of observers. Marching bands performed tunes such as the Ghostbusters theme song while other participants danced to Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller,’ which echoed from speakers on floats.

It truly was a monstrous spectacle to behold starting at 7pm and ending at 11pm.
