Teen Central’s Cooking Class

By Amanda Moses

In partnership with Sylvia Center, Spring Creek Teen Central is hosting cooking classes from November 9th to January 11th. The Sylvia Center is an organization that works to educate young people on the correlation between food and health, empowering them to lead healthier lives. Classes are held on Wednesdays from 4:45 pm to 6:15 p.m., where students learn recipes, how to prepare and cook the dishes, and dine together to enjoy the meal they made.

In honor of November being Diabetes Awareness Month, members of Teen Central discovered ways to cook delicious meals that are low in sugar and consist of simple natural ingredients. One recipe the students learned was a black bean and corn salsa dip, which consisted of corn, black beans, cilantro, white onions, green peppers, and tomatoes.
